iLL-Sugi is becoming one of my favourite producers right now. From his colourful, animated beats to his percussion and key-heavy compositions, he is always able to create something soulful and captivating. His newest release ANIMISM continues with that same energy.
Over 10 short but memorable tracks, the Japanese musician is able to craft a project that is simply beautiful. Heavy on keys and boom-bap beats, as per usual, he is able to create a moody yet gorgeous soundscape. Whether this is through the soulful keys on “Cicada Roar” or the eerie tone of “Mole Tylon,” iLL-Sugi is able to navigate his way through these sounds to produce a cohesive, captivating release that is another great addition to his already legendary discography.
