Music: Mayaewk – Konbini EP

French-based producer Mayaewk released a new project early last month titled Konbini EP. It was an EP written at the quiet hours between midnight and dawn after Mayaewk’s gigs in Japan recently. ‘Konbini’ in Japanese is a convenient store, and he named the project that to celebrate them as places that provided cigarettes, food and comfort when everywhere else was shut.

The project itself is a smooth, soulful one, sampling Japanese music and crafting a beat tape that feels organic and incredibly lush with sounds and gorgeous melodies. Tracks like “let’s go” and “kawaii” especially give out a nostalgic feel, with keys, guitar loops and synths that are intertwined between a warm beat. It really is a smooth, sunny project that is just perfect for springtime weather. Thanks to Mayaewk for this short but important new EP, and I look forward to hearing what you have coming next.
