Music: Fredfades & Jawn Rice – Jacuzzi Boyz

Fredfades and Jawn Rice both hail from the beautiful country of Norway, and have been making music together for over a decade now. Often releasing music through one of my favourite labels Mutual Intentions, they join forces on this exciting new record they call Jacuzzi Boyz. 9 tracks in length, this new release is one soaked in deep house vibes with elements of jazz-like aura and hip-hop style production.

From the get-go, the project starts with a bang with “Just Chill,” with colourful keys that are intertwined with the pulsating groove that carries the track through. With scratching and vocal samples, this track highlights Fredfades’ talents as a producer. The meditative groove of “Tonight” featuring Lucid Paradise however, probably my favourite record on the album. With it’s growing synth-leads and its angelic tone, its rhythm is captivating and wonderful. The whole albums follows that upbeat and dynamic tone. Features Dreamcast and Stimulator Jones bring soulful vocals to their respected tracks, while keeping the rhythm funky and dance-oriented as per usual.

Overall, this is a stellar release with so much energy and timeless grooves that are without a doubt going to be on rotation for me this year. Listen to Fredfades and Jawn Rice’s collaborative project Jacuzzi Boyz below via Bandcamp, and don’t forget to support!
