German producer Glenn Astro’s talents cannot be underestimated – this guy is one of the best musicians out there. Having released music alongside some great musicians such as Max Graef and Ajnascent, the incredible musician is back with a new short project titled C.I.W. His influences have always steered towards the dance and disco-heavy side of electronic music. This EP is no different.
With heavy synths, infectious 808s and break beats, the grooves on this record are as infectious as they get. “Crack Is Wack” features incredible guitar licks that just move the soul with funk and groove rhythms that make you want to dance. “Der Langweiler” is slower in pace, with glittery and colourful synths giving the track a more introspective listen. “Der Maschine” is very techno-inspired, with a heavy bass-driven beat that pummels through repeatedly throughout the track. “Boring Times On Beleuse Five” includes a more tribal rhythms, a track that progressively grows in sound with synths and effects that bring it to life. ‘Discomania’ is an exclusive and vinyl-only cover version of Piero Umiliani’s eponymous electronic disco classic, and has all the ingredients of a dancefloor anthem – heavy, bass-driven beat, gorgeous synth leads and quirky sound effects.
C.I.W. EP is an excellent insight into Glenn Astro’s brilliant musical talents. A dance-heavy release that is bound to hit the dancefloors around the world in the very near future.
