mejiwahn is an incredibly gifted musician hailing from Minneapolis/Oakland. He has released a brand new album on Hot Record Societe titled Lúil Ó Fadó. It’s an incredible album that features some amazing jazz compositions. Often meditative in sound, it captures a tone that is reflective, often helped by vocal snippets of people talking about peace, spirituality and creativity. It’s not often that I come across such a smooth and poignant album, one which requires attention and calmness to be appreciated in full.
With guitar leads, ethereal synths throughout, subtle but effective drumming and incredible keys, the trance-like effect this album gives you while listening to it is something special. For me, it made me reflect on deeper thoughts of where I am in this point of my life and helped give me clarity with my vision. There’s music out there that just does that to you, and this was it for me. It’s difficult to pick standout tracks on this album, but “Lúil”, “Flee Nor Stow” “Glu” w/ ShunGu and “Pen Uproots” are real highlights for me. This album tells a story through its snippets, sound progression and overall tone. It is an excellent project deserving of so much praise.
