Music: Various Artists: BLESS Vol. 2 (Inner Ocean Records)

Back in May last year, Inner Ocean Records’ released the BLESS Vol. 1 compilation album, which was a 111-track tape which aimed to raise some money to help people in Syria. 100% of proceeds went to help support the White Helmets, people dedicated to saving lives affected by the ongoing war. It was an ambitious project but for a very good cause. It included almost 4 hrs of super chilled beats, featuring musicians such as shogonodo, Awlnight, PRGMAT, mellowmnd and Ridgewell amongst many other talented musicians. It was such a successful release and campaign to help those affected in the war in Syria that a year later, the Canadian label has come back with another lengthy compilation titled BLESS Vol. 2.

If you’re into instrumental lo-fi beats and hip-hop, this tape has everything for you. 99 tracks which span again about 4 hours, the tape features talented musicians such as Knablinz, Mecca:83, Kazumi Kaneda and Dominic J. Marshall amongst many others. The tape feels sonically diverse, but the tone remains positive throughout. The label curated a selection of tracks from the full album for this Limited Edition Double LP release, and there is a double cassette release along with the digital download that you can purchase.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of this tape will be donated to a variety of Micro Loan programs for Women, Sustainable Water and Agriculture projects, Refugees, Education, Health Care and the Arts. The funds from the Micro Loans are paid back over time and it’s the promise of the label to everyone supporting this album that they will perpetually reinvest those funds back into future Micro Loans. This way the funds can continue to support people who need it for many years ahead.

You can listen to BLESS Vol. 2 below via Bandcamp, and make sure you support this tape as it’s for a good cause. Released via Inner Ocean Records.
