brainorchestra. is a talented young New Jersey artist I have been following for a little while now. His new project DOMÍ (structure in Greek), the 2nd installation to the LOVETONES series as well as an amalgamation of the last 2-3 years of his life, as he describes ‘The good, the bad, the ugly, all of which structured this album as a story board of times.’
You can tell that he put his heart and soul into crafting an immersive and captivating project. The majority of songs here span at around the 3 minute mark, and delve deep into experimental electronic and boom-bap territory. The synths are spaced out and atmospheric, and the drums hit hard on every track, which, while a dichotomy in sound, provides a balanced and carefully crafted sound which draws you in with every second, every note, every beat. Sampling voice-overs as well, DOMÍ sounds at times spiritual, like you’re in a different dimension trying to make sense of everything. Highlights for me include ‘A. river.’ ‘A. 11:49.[edit],’ ‘B. foryou.’ just to name a few. The whole album is concise and focused, so it is definitely worth your time.
Dedicated to Howard Perdigao – August 16th 1992 | August 21st 2017. RIP E-Not
