A few thoughts: JADASEA has been on my radar for quite a few years now as one of my favourite London-based rappers, creating some special albums showcasing his introspections and insights on life on varied, eclectic and futuristic production. Too Many Tears is his new project, a 14-track project with an incredibly immersive sound helped by production from Eahwee, Tony Bontana and rob chambers, as well redLee, Omari Lyseight, Markland, Mack and Dillip being sound advisors for the project. The soulful, smooth cut on “Buggin” after the brief “Intro”, with confident raps about manifesting the life he’s wanted for himself, speaking with confidence and about shit he’s up to on the regular. Tracks flow beautifully, with the colourful and light “Inkling” being a light, with its guitar loops and colourful sample, making it a beautiful moment on the album. The drumless soul of “My Love” is phenomenal too, with deep introspections on love being the theme of the track. “Crypt” is another deep, reflective moment, speaking on mental health issues. “Do or Die” has a smooth, groovy beat and an animated delivery from the emcee, who’s flows are so seamless on this soulful cuts. The piano sample and beat on “Not Much 2 Say” is lively, with JADASEA’s incredible wordplay and flows throughout making for an engaging listen, as we get an insight into his life, via snippets and visual representations of his life and what’s he’s going through made in a way that is engaging and beautiful. This is the case throughout the album, as each track is a vignette of life, sound and experience, packed in a 14 track album that flows effortlessly from start to finish. “Vanishing Act” is another highlight, with its rumbling, animated and playful synth-led groove, and JADA’s incredible flows throughout that capture the intensity and intellect of the track. The old soul of “Betting on You” is great, while “Flames” closes the album out with another great loop, and one triumphant final verse from JADASEA, reflecting on his current state of mind and growth over the years. It’s a fantastic album that again showcases his talents as a writer and performer.
