Why you should listen: LA-based underground beatmaking legend Mndsgn has come through with a new album titled Snaxxx, a follow-up to his excellent 2019 album Snaxx. I have been a fan of this man’s work for so many years now, and seeing him continue to put out music that is just so groovy, soulful and funky is just so great to see and hear. This new project balances more melodic and voice-led conpositions, something he has been developing for a few years now, and has mastered on albums such as 2014’s Yawn Zen and 2016’s Body Wash, with more abstract and hard-hitting beats and grooves. There are so many highlights on this one, such as the hard-hitting and textured “UdontwannafallintheLAVA”, the soulful “LUV MIRAGE”, the infectiously groovy “Fillsmeup” and well as the featured cuts with Liv.e – “(my)PLEASURE” and “Playinthesegames”, Anna Wise on “Particular Flowr” and Devin Morrison “Hoursafter Interlude”.
