Ghanaian musician Alogte Oho has released a new album along with his Sounds of Joy titled Mam Yinne Wa. He grew up in the rainforest of southern Ghana before moving up to the land of the Frafra in the savannah of northern Ghana as a young boy. His passion for gospel and church music was what influenced his decision to start making music.
Over 9 tracks, Alogte Oho is able to create a gorgeous, rhythmic aura throughout that brilliantly captures the beauty of the Ghanaian soul. “Mam Yinne Wa” kicks the album off with wonderfully engaging singing over a backdrop that is filled with percussion, energetic drumming and grooves that are truly infectious. “Allema Timba” has a dub influence with its beat, and his choir really bring the track to life with terrific singing throughout. The rest of the album follows a similar rhythmic energy and tone, with gorgeous synth-heavy production and percussion that makes the album sound tribal and truly mesmeric. Tracks like “Fom Se Mam” and “Ma’algo” are intricate with their compositions, while “Sala An Songa” closes the album out with a beautiful, rhythmic and textured track featuring vocals from Alogte, who’s gorgeous harmonies with his choir make it a terrific listen. Overall, Alogte Oho creates a stunning project full of intricate and rhythmic tracks with gorgeous, melodic singing throughout.
