Japanese electronic producer Yoshinori Hayashi has come through with a brand new project titled Y. With glitchy, Aphex Twin-like compositions and house grooves and rhythms, this release is an engaging and eclectic one that beautifully captures his aura and creativity.
The track “U” is a glitchy, upbeat track that features hi-hats and synths throughout that add a dark yet groovy tone. “Cs” is an off-kilter track with metallic sounding instrumentation and this jumpy, funky beat. “I” is a rhythmic, synth-heavy composition that’s engaging and pretty great. The subtle, groovy and bass-heavy “Sr” is simple but poignant and ends the album brilliantly. Y is an eclectic and interesting EP that showcases Yoshinori Hayashi’s talents as a composer and arranger, so I’m excited to hear what he has coming up next!
