The mystery behind the band SAULT continues. After reviewing their previous album 5, I was super excited to listen to new music from the talented group, who bring a lot of soulful and funky compositions on their new album 7.
The short 10 track album features some eclectic compositions that are seeped in thick basslines such as on tracks like “Living in America” and “Threats,” while more drum-heavy tracks such as “No Bullshit” and “Tip Toe” bring a hypnotic beat that I honestly can’t get enough. The vocal performances throughout are beautiful as they add so much soul to the project. The catchy groove of “Smile and Go” is amazing, while “Friends” is a smooth, neo-soul type track with incredible guitar leads and basslines, with subtle keys that provide a gorgeous soundscape. Overall, the raw energy of the album’s live instrumentation and soulful aesthetic makes it a memorable project. I hope to hear more from this mysterious and captivating band.
