Music: Chaos In The CBD – Hydrate EP

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, brothers Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales are Chaos In the CBD. Their music has had a big impact here in London, having worked with Peckham-based label Rhythm Selection on releases such as Midnight in Peckham and Invisible Spectrum. Their newest release is a two-track project titled Hydrate EP, a short but essential release highlighting their talents as musicians and composers.

“Hydrate” features heavy synths and electronic effects that build towards a hard-hitting House beat that is just infectious and brings a whole lotta dance-heavy energy. Certain vocal samples are sprinkled throughout, and the melodic shift towards the middle of the track makes for an engaging listen. “Searching For Signal” is more of a hypnotic, somewhat tribal release with its thumping beat and heavy, Acid House inspired synths that bring character and build the track with infectious energy that’s perfect for the dancefloor. These two tracks are welcome additions to the eclectic and always dynamic discography from two of the most exciting voices in electronic music.
