Music: Elusive – Bonsai Tree

LA based producer Elusive comes through with an excellent new album titled Bonsai Tree. After releasing his fantastic 2018 albums Dissonance, Planet Blue and Consonance, the incredibly talented musician exceeds expectations even further with this release. I’ve always admired Elusive’s incredibly textured production. It goes far beyond beatmaking, as he is able to craft tracks with dense, live percussion, deep and funky basslines and gorgeous synths that meander throughout the ethereal landscapes of his music.

The first few tracks of Bonsai Tree are proof of this. “Juniper” starts the album with incredibly dense beats, gorgeous harps and basslines that complement the beat and groove of the track. “Luv Beam” features Ian Roller, and brings so much soul with saxophone melodies that are incredibly smooth and beautiful. The 8-bit production influence on “New Vision” is incredible, with such a hard-hitting, head-nodding type beat. Tracks like “Aesthetics” bring synths and a Thundercat-inspired bassline that sounds terrific over this smooth, creative beat. The percussion on “Feel Your Groove” is incredible too, as the track builds with thick synths that hug the track, as well as a bassline that sounds so smooth and groovy it’s difficult not to move your head and feel some type of way about it. “Dream Segments” ends the album beautifully with a smooth and meditative sound that is both emotive and reflective.

Overall, another great addition to Elusive’s ever expanding discography of amazing music. Listen to Bonsai Tree below via Bandcamp and don’t forget to support! Released via Dome of Doom.
