Music: Children of Zeus – Excess Baggage

Manchester’s finest Children of Zeus come through with a small, bonus EP titled Excess Baggage, which acts as a complimentary piece to their excellent 2018 album Travel Light. Featuring UGK remixes from Zed Bias, a few edits and some original tracks, the talented duo have once again shown why they are one of the most exciting voices within the UK.

“Vibrations,” which was one of the highlights off Travel Light kick off this mini-project with gorgeous keys and a gorgeous soulful melody, with K15’s production hitting hard in every way. The bounce and utter soul of the track brings such a good vibe to the track. That same energy is carried on throughout this record. “10 Toes” features fellow Manchester rapper HMD in a trap-infused banger. “Ghost” features sweet guitar leads, keys and synths that beautifully complement each other. The subtle guitar and piano melody on “No Sunshine Tomorrow – Sunset Version) makes it an immediate favourite for me. “I Want You” end the album with a smooth R&B track that sounds incredibly sensual and perfect as a closer to this mini-project.
