Music: My Girlfriend – Apron EP

Hailing from São Paulo, Pedro Zopelar and Benjamim Sallum have been making waves within the acid-house and funk scene in Brazil. Having basically opened for Theo Parrish at the RBMA festival in São Paulo 2017, their music has been critically acclaimed and loved by a lot of people. As My Girlfriend, they have now released a new project titled Apron EP, which basically showcases their take on Brazilian neo-soul, house and funk music in a brilliant fashion.

From the soulful vocal sample, synths and a thumping beat on “Gidi,” to the more 2-step grooves of “Modal,” this project showcases the high energy and intricate production of the duo who seem to be going from strength to strength. The smoother and more soulful cuts “Believe In Something” and “Corner Club” show them diversifying their sound brilliantly, and shows exactly why they are one of the most talented duos in music today. I firmly believe that they have a great future ahead of them and wish them nothing but the best.
