Music: Lord Apex, Lester Nowhere & o k h o – High Stakes, Low Ryder

Released back in March, London-based rapper Lord Apex teams up with two Italian producers Lester Nowhere & o k h o for a short but brilliant new album titled High Stakes, Low Ryder. With 20 tracks barely hitting the minute mark and the project lasting a mere 14 minutes, the talented musicians were able to create a cohesive, densely produced body of work that has a lot of replay value.

Take tracks like “100% Complete” and “High Noon,” for example, one of the few tracks that exceed the minute mark. Both of them see Lord Apex give a lot of personality and energy over smooth, synth-laden production that has a lot of bounce and energy to them. The GTA theme throughout makes it a fun and engaging listen, and it’s a dope concept that we need more of in hip-hop. So overall, this is a fantastic album that has a ton of personality and will be played again and again for the foreseeable future.
