As one half of the excellent Brown X Blue show on Reprezent Radio (alongside Blue Canariñho), Melle Brown has established as one of the most important voices in this new generation of young R&B and neo-soul scene bubbling in London. She comes through with an excellent new project titled Intersection EP, released with Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce label.
With garage, 2-step and jazz-infused rhythms, Melle is really able to capture a vibe and a tone to the music that makes it both dance-heavy in its energy and moody and soulful as well. Tracks like “Background Noise” with Oli Hannaford and “Dose of Me” with Tiana Major9 and Intalekt provide smooth vocal performances and jazzy undertones, but the pulsating, bass-heavy beats throughout make them excellent records for the dancefloor. This is more the case with tracks like “Terminus” and “Bloom,” where the emphasis really is on the beat and the trance-like quality to the music, with swirling synths and electronic effects which give out such great energy, it’s impossible not to move in your seat.
