Music: Maxo – LIL BIG MAN

LA-based musician Maxo comes through with a fantastic new hip-hop project titled LIL BIG MAN. The talented artist is Def Jam’s new signee, and this new project of his highlights why he is one of the musicians to watch this year. Ten tracks long and with features from Lojii, liv.e and Pink Siifu, the album contains a strong soulful and lo-fi feel to it, which makes it a smooth and engaging listen.

With tracks like “Strongside” and the lead single “In My Penny’s,” he brings a strong introspective tone to the record, with honest and complex but easily digestible rhymes that stick to my mind every time I listen to the album. The gorgeous beat switch on the latter track is sprinkled with keys, an incredible soul sample and a bass-driven beat that is incredibly soulful and profound. “Crown Heights” has a beautiful jazzy melody that makes it a perfect soundscape for Maxo to share his story on. The last track “Quiktoldme” is on some spiritual vibe, with some incredible bass-driven grooves and percussion that is sprinkled throughout the track. It’s an amazing way to close an excellent album.

Please check out Maxo’s LIL BIG MAN album as it is really something worth immersing yourself into and digesting. Maxo is a talent you’ll be hearing in years to come, trust me. Listen to it below via Spotify, and don’t forget to support! Released via Def Jam Recordings.
