As one of my favourite musicians of the last decade or so, Kutmah has crafted a dark, raw, and hard-hitting sound that I still play time and time again. On his new tape titled simply = (Equals), the now Berlin-based musician continues this incredibly dense and raw energy with an excellent new beat tape that brings soulful samples and a bass-heavy sound that pulsates through your eardrums.

Whether this is on tracks like “Graffiti-VHS” with the eerie, synth-heavy leads or on “AnalogCadillac” with the heavy basslines and percussive rhythms, the album is full of excellent moments that are drenched in soulful samples (on “This World”, for examples) and spiritual-like energy (on tracks like “Far Away” and “KEMET”). Kutmah continues to to grow and impress with each new release, showing us why he is one of the most respected producers within the world of music today.
