Hello everyone, hope you’re all having a great Sunday! This week’s playlist is dedicated entirely to the legend James Dewitt Yancey, aka J Dilla. It was the legendary producer’s birthday on the 7th February, and today marks his unfortunate death anniversary. This is why, this week is entirely his. I have selected records that have defined his legacy for me in particular. All tracks are either produced by Dilla, or feature him. Hip-hop was my first love and his genius was one of the reasons I fell in love with the genre in the first place. This is by no means a definitive list of Dilla-produced music, I’m sure you can find better curated ones elsewhere, but this one has a special place in my heart, so it’s a personal one*. RIP James, your music and spirit will live on for eternity.
