Released on the well respected Cosmic Compositions label, Aukland, New Zealand based musician Christoph El Truento comes through an incredible new record titled LWMP18.
Whilst a lot of his other releases are more mellow and jazz-focused, this new release experiments with juke and footwork music, and is able to interpolate his influences from jazz, funk and soul and R&B music into a dynamic, diverse and incredibly engaging listen. Throughout the 21 tracks, there is not a weak or underwhelming moment on this record. From the incredible keys and synths on “so kleer,” the incredible free jazz jam of “downstairs,” the angelic and sample heavy vibe of “show dem,” the infectious energy of “tellem,”to the incredible soul on “trouble,” he is able to create different moods, landscapes and incredibly composed melodies so effortlessly that all you can do is admire the art.
In addition to the original compositions, there are two incredible remixes from DJ Manny (with “Loco”) and Borrowed CS (with”Subio”) that just add more legendary credentials to this fantastic tape.
