Music: Alfa Mist – 7th October (Epilogue)

The phenomenal talent that is Alfa Mist is back with a quick 2 track release. Having released one of the best albums last year in Antiphon, there were a few tracks that stood out for me personally. One of them was “7th October,” a track with incredible drumming, gorgeous keys that meander through the beat and a short, personal verse from Alfa Mist himself.

7th October (Epilogue) expands on the “7th October” track in a number of ways. “Resolve” acts as a continuation and expansion on the outro of that track, giving dynamic energy through the drum patterns, trumpet leads and subtle but poignant keys too which give this track soul and a lot of heart. “Exit (Feat. 2nd Exit)” features Alfa Mist’s hip-hop group 2nd Exit, which includes fellow musician Lester Duval. Again, introspective verses dominate this track, and they’re accompanied by sweet keys, incredibly soulful keys, subtle drumming and a powerful bassline that reverberates throughout the track.

Alfa Mist never fails to impress. He is one of the UK’s most celebrated and respected musicians for a reason, and releases like this just reinforce that fact. You can listen to Alfa Mist’s 7th October (Epilogue) below via Bandcamp.
