Brisbane native Sampology’s career has spanned over a decade as a musician and DJ, having released some stellar projects over the last couple of years, such as the incredible Natural Selections EP back in 2016. He is back this year with a stellar new release, one which captures his creative and experimental energy in an upbeat and sonically rich musical experience.
Featuring his signature fusion of electronic rhythms mixed with a soulful tones and live instrumentation, the Australian musician was able to create a masterpiece in Mt Glorious EP. 6 tracks long, it features some angelic and musically dense compositions. Whether we’re talking about the incredible features on this record with Georgia Ann Muldrow, Dudley Perkins and Jordan Rakei, or the hypnotic beats accompanied by thick layers of synth and saxophone leads, the aura created throughout is something else. The tracks develop and blossom throughout into rich sonic experiments that shine throughout on this tape. The beats are often tribal, the melodies are beautiful and the percussion is vibrant.
Mt Glorious EP exceeded all expectations with this project. It’s cohesive, dense and diverse in sound. Textures are rich with field recordings and live instrumentation, and the the tracks flow effortlessly between one another. A highlight for this year for sure.
