Music: Marie Dahlstrøm – Kanel EP

Talented Danish singer Marie Dahlstrøm comes through with a new EP titled Kanel. I came across her music quite recently through one of my favourite releases this year – Billy Dukes’ The Intervention, and in particular the track “Lords” where her gorgeous vocals permeated through lush soulful instrumentation. She is now based in London and has released music for years now, from her 2011 project Feelings or her 2017 EP Nine

On Kanel, Marie’s soothing and soulful voice is accompanied by colourful r&b production, which is filled with dynamic drum patterns throughout, especially on tracks like “Ask About Me” and “Bring Me Back.” The subtle basslines and keys provide more sonic depth to the project, which make this project a colourful and engaging listen. Marie’s lyrics are driven by themes of love and relationships, and some of her vocal melodies are gorgeous and catchy such as on my favourite track on the EP “Let It Go.” Her talents are showcased superbly in this tape, and I predict  a big future ahead for Marie Dahlstrøm.

Listen to her amazing Kanel EP below via Spotify, and make sure you support her music in any way you can, she deserves it!
