This talented duo from Manchester comprising of producer and vocalist Tyler Daley and emcee Konny Kon have been making waves as Children Of Zeus for years now. Signed to First Word Records, they have released an array of EPs and singles that have captured a vibrant, soulful sound that has been celebrated within the UK and beyond. They are back this time with their first proper LP titled Travel Light, and it does not disappoint one bit.
Tyler Daley’s soul can be felt all over this album. His vocal performances are stunning throughout this album. Highlights are plentiful, but on tracks such as “The Story So Far,” “Hoodman2Manhood,” “The Heart Beat” and “Hard Work” his passion can be really felt. His vocals are harmonised and backed by gorgeous soulful production. Dilla-esque drums throughout, groovy basslines and keys and synth leads were some of the ingredients used to create some groovy, soulful and ethereal results. Konny Kon gets personal on tracks like “360º” where he raps about break ups, breaking through creatively and the importance of hard-work and focus to stay on track with goals. The duo talk about how they got to where they are and have crafted an album that embodies free spirit. Features on the album include [ K S R ], LayFullStop, Metrodome (Levelz) and former Broke ’n’ £nglish spar DRS, who all add their heart and personalities to this project.
