Music: Nanna.B – Lapis EP

The beautiful spirit that is Nanna.B has released a gorgeous self-produced project on Jakarta Records titled Lapis EP. The Danish musician has worked with the likes of Mndsgn, Ivan Ave and Hodgy, and has made a real name for herself with her 2017 EP Golden. With lush, r&B textures and a pitch perfect voice, Nanna.B has become one of the most exciting new talents to come out in recent years.

On Lapis EP, she excels on all fronts. With more emphasis on her powerful vocal performance, this album is filled with soulful melodies, vocal harmonies that ooze sensuality and angelic production which is dominated by the beautiful keys, slow, funk-heavy beats and subtle synths that give the project ethereal quality to it. The EP is dedicated to the divine feminine energy, with the title of her project originating from the gemstone that royals were buried wearing in ancient Mesopotamian and Egypt. It really does emanate a spiritual, feminine quality that is incredibly powerful. While the project as a whole is a highlight, standout tracks include “Cowrie’s Words,” Maybe She” and “Where is the $.”
