Released late last month, Paul White’s new album Rejuvenate is an eclectic, dynamic and colourful release featuring gorgeous vocal performances from Denai Moore, Shungudzo and Sarah Williams White. The South London producer is known for his wacky, left-field production which ranges from the batshit crazy such as on Danny Brown’s critically acclaimed 2016 album Atrocity Exhibition, to more psychedelic sounding beats on projects like his 2014 release Shaker Notes.
On his new project Rejuvenate, Paul White takes a more subtle, soft approach to his music. Focusing more on melody and smooth instrumentals filled with slick basslines, gorgeous synths and strings that elevate some of the tracks to a somewhat spiritual level. Tracks like “Ice Cream Man” and “Laugh With Me” are catchy and ethereal, with strong vocal performances that bring an amazing energy. The title track is another highlight, with its psychedelic guitar-driven leads and impeccable drumming throughout.
Rejuvenate is to me one of Paul White’s most soulful and sonically celestial releases. It shows why he is one of the most talented producers in the world right now. His ability to reinvent his sound from album to album while keeping the same energy that makes his music so exciting is incredible to me. Big ups to Paul White for this brilliant new release.
