Music: Denmark Vessey – Sun Go Nova

Detroit musician Denmark Vessey is back again with a new 2- part extended play titled Sun Go Nova. After a trip to LA, Denmark created connections with the likes of Earl Sweatshirt (who was a fan at the time, proclaiming that Vessey’s Martin Lucid Dream (2015) is what you needed to listen to if you wanted soul food), as well as Grammy-award winning producer Knxwledge.

With intense recording sessions in Chicago, the result is Sun Go Nova, an excellent two volume project. The first volume is 5 tracks long and features lush, soulful and eclectic production from the two talents, and Denmark’s usual idiosyncratic, introspective and humorous rhymes bringing flow and character to the EP. The second volume is a beat-tape produced entirely by Denmark Vessey. As a producer, the soulful, intricate and sample-heavy soundscape brings about a colourful and feel-good vibe, perfect for summer listening.
