Music: Beatbliotek – LIBRARY 01

If you’re looking for an online platform to discover new beats and instrumental albums, French-based website Beatbliotek have you covered. They document new music from artists all around the world, and have been increasingly influential on social media. They greet 2018 with a compilation album titled LIBRARY 01, an impressive collection of tracks from some of the most exciting beatmakers around. Let’s introduce the roster: AwlnightMF EisteeTropesSNK∆SleepdealerHentzup, HaNN_11, Lzu.Shogonodo, Khyro, paxLidly, Peter Clinton, Drwn., CoryaYo, FarragoL, Mr. Zula, Smuv & M a n n y.

Hip-hop and sampling  is at the core of this compilation. SNK∆ samples Hiatus Kaiyote’s “Molasses,” Sleepdealer samples Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” and Shogonodo samples Danny Brown’s “Lie4” (which also happens to be my favourite track on the tape because of that amazing beat switch). One of our favourite Swiss producers Drwn. comes through with a vintage jazzy beat on his cut “Limitations,” and HaNN_11 (who helped produce one of my favourite releases last year in Drop That Wet with Yung Morpheus) comes through with hard-hitting drums and a sweet jazzy loop that makes the track a spiritual experience. Other highlights include Lidly’s short but gorgeous Dilla-like drum loop and beat on “Laying down,” FarragoL’s smooth The Weeknd sampling R&B jam on “dnthate” and Tropes’ quirky remix to Big Tymers’ “Gangsta Girl” featuring R. Kelly.

There are so many gems to discover with Beatbliotek’s new compilation tape, so I suggest you support this project, and check out beatbliotek.org for all new beat tape releases as they’re the very best at that.

You can listen to Beatbliotek’s LIBRARY 01 below via Bandcamp, and make sure you support all the artists involved as well as the website by taking a couple of seconds to check out their website.

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by. I run In Search Of Media with the aim of giving a platform to independent beatmakers, rappers and talented musicians. I also hope to make this a home for music discovery, interesting film analysis, exhibition reviews and other interesting content for all of you guys to dive in to. I hope to start a podcast and documentary-style project soon. If you're looking to be a part of this creative project, please go to the contact page and drop me an email, or connect via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. I also write for 'Music Is My Sanctuary.' Thanks 🙏
