Music: Stephen Carmona – Time’s Intention

Stephen Carmona is a talented young musician from Dallas. Having been fascinated by music for a long time, he was given a guitar at a young age, learning how to play Slipknot and System of a Down songs while also getting into skateboarding. The crazy thing is that he only started focusing and taking guitar playing seriously in 2016, with the intention of eventually creating music.

Time’s Intention, his newest release, is a culmination of his efforts as a musician, storyteller and artist. With gorgeous, ambient melodies, scattered electronica, and slick guitar playing, this project is an emphatic dive into experimental music. It feels organic and raw full of emotion. Highlights on this project ‘Fruit Falls’ with -topic and Hevy Bens, a beautiful instrumental tune with a pulsating rhythms and a hard-hitting beat, ‘You’ll See’ with Freddy Sans, a gorgeous song with captivating vocals and a sublime instrumental, and the closer ‘Bury Me’ with Guru-Ma, Eli-Xr (both London-based), Hevy Bens, Donny Domino & Kool Quise, a moody, melodic, beautiful and haunting  record, with the lyrics “Bury Me” being sung and echoed in the background of a dense, layered soundscape.

It’s amazing to me how quickly he learnt guitar in such a short space of time and was able to craft a project this consistently great. If you’re into instrumental, experimental hip-hop with a touch of ambient music and a live and organic sound, I recommend you give this a listen and support!
