Music: Fly Anakin, Koncept Jack$on & Tuamie – Panama Plus

You are witnessing greatness. Mutant Academy members Fly Anakin, Koncept Jack$on & Tuamie release Panama Plus, a raw, soulful and essential album. I know I’ve made different claims for album of the year throughout the last 11 months, but this might actually, certainly, definitely be my favourite release of the year (after two listens). The raw grit and menace to Anakin and Jack$on’s lyrics and dynamic flows are so incredibly dope they make me want to break my neck from bobbing. The album oozes confidence, with lyrics on street life and real life struggles and accomplishments. I will have sit with this album a little more to fullt digest my emotions, because upon first and second listen, the lyrical complexities of both Fly Anakin and Koncept Jack$on’s lyrics are overwhelming.

Oh, and the production? Tuamie killed it, as usual, but the production on this album is incredibly intense. Take ‘Bulletproof Gucci Windshield,’ which has a sinister tone with eerie keys, a subtle but power and hard beats. ‘Double  Bicycle Kick’ has quirky synths, still having an eerie, raw tone to it. ‘Infidel Castro’ is another highlight, with the same menacing rhythm and power to the beat.

At the moment I’m writing this, I’m fully immersed in this album, my emotions can’t even put into words how hard and crazy this project is. So I may come back after a week and write something more detailed, or maybe I’ll just keep it real and say, holy shit, this may be album of the year.
