a few thoughts: london-based artist and dj mr. redley has been a really valuable contribution to the ever-evolving uk dance scene. whether through event curation, djing or his production, the talented north london artist always has something interesting to offer. slipperly slope ep is a 3-track project inspired by detroit, but with the energy of london. thick basslines, incredible rhythms and playful synths create a dynamic and utterly hypnotic energy that is geared for the dancefloor. the broken-beat energy of “dipped ice cream van” is infectious, while the booming bass on “it rains sideways” makes it a heavy yet intricate composition, with synth leads dancing between the thunderous beat. “skipping on a flute plain” has colourful synth melodies that intertwine with the heavy groove and beat throughout. it’s a great way to close out a riveting ep. slippery slope is a punchy, colourful project, merging the sound and legacy of two dynamic and ever-changing cities effortlessly.
