is it only me or can 2025 go fuck itself? this year flew by and i feel like i haven’t even had the chance to rest properly. a wild personal year for me, but with one constant that has kept me going – good music. this year has been full of incredible releases, and with it fast approaching the end of the year, it also means that i need to start assembling and preparing for list week, namely the top 25 albums of 2025. that list, i can happily say, is very nearly finalised (this was a lot more difficult to do than expected). the full list will be released the last week of the year, so please look out for that. within list week, i might include a list for favourite films watched in 2025 (while you’re at it, add us on letterboxd), as well as a ‘breakthrough artist of the year’. the only thing i’ve been consistent with over the years is the albums of the year lists, so i’m still undecided on what other end-of-year thing to post about.
if you’ve been following our instagram, you would have noticed a few reels posted by yours truly. yes, i’ve started making social media content (please do give us a follow!). what will definitely be kept on a weekly basis is my ‘on rotation this week’ series, which is taken from this apple music playlist. this is just a way for me to expand my reach and do branch out beyond blogging-era posts. i will continue building on these reels though i hate spending time on social media. the top 25 will be broken down into a 5-part reel series. albums 25-21, 20-16, 15-11, 10-6 and 5-1. a top 50 tracks of the year playlist will also be created with a mix accompanying it.
lastly, still on the lookout for music or film contributors to join the team, so if you’d like to get involved with in search of media in any capacity, please email me at martin@insearchofmedia.com. many thanks, y’all!
i hope you have a nice rest of the year, and i’ll see you with more energy next year!
