a few thoughts: brazilian guitar maestro fabiano do nascimento is back in full swing collaborating this year. 2024’s the room with sam gendel was amongst my favourite albums to come out that year, so i always look forward to hearing his intricate samba-laced compositions. he has teamed up with e ruscha v, a talented la-based electronic producer, on an immersive and stunning album. the 9-track album features some incredibly dense electronic soundscapes complemented by stunning guitar playing throughout. the colourful electronica on the opener “nascer” is incredible, as the jittery electronica complements the emphatic guitar leads throughout. it’s a moody yet groovy composition and one that sets the tone for the rest of the album. the gorgeous and melodic “rain” is fantastic, while the intricate electronic rhythm of “chegada” is one of my favourites on the album. atmospheric and utterly hypnotic from start to finish, it captures the beauty and essence of this project perfectly. the grooves on “bio” are infectious and somewhat eerie, with jumpy synths and percussion that animate the track throughout, with an ambiance to it that differs from the others. the melodies on “purpose” and “solar” are warm and beautiful, with the latter of the two having jittery electronic beats that skip over fabiano’s dynamic guitar leads. “leaves” is another emotive moment, with emphatic percussive drumming and an atmospheric energy, while the gorgeous “rio inverso” closes the album out with an incredible composition. colourful synths, guitar leads and electronic grooves that create this animated, colourful and meandering soundscape that feels restless and immersive from start to finish. fabiano do nascimento and e ruscha v have created a stunningly beautiful body of work that is lush and and utterly captivating from start to finish.
