username & marsh crane – overtime

released: january 12, 2026

genre: electronic / footwork

from: nashville, usa

label: self-released

a few thoughts: i discovered username last year through his 2025 release look what you did and have been hooked on his infectious take on footwork ever since. this time around, he teams up with fellow producer marsh crane for overtime, an 11-track, 31-minute album of colourful, bouncy and dynamic electronic compositions, with intricate beats and vocal chops and samples that feel like they levitate on the frantic drumming throughout. the emphatic energy of “speakers” is an example of this, with sharp synth melodies that complement the heavy bassline and vocal sample throughout the track. “nap” is another highlight, with an atmospheric and angelic beat, complemented by jittery percussive elements and heavy drums throughout. “that’s it” is also an infectious cut, with ‘that’s it’ vocal samples throughout that animate the already colourful and textured groove. the same applies to “not one of them”, with a gorgeous piano melody singing over the restless groove throughout, and the melodic, gentle closer “overtime”. overtime is a colourful, upbeat and fun album with incredibly buoyant moments.
