a few thoughts: as part of the life is beautiful collective and label, the narrator has blossomed into an eclectic and boundary-pushing artist, combining her stunning vocal range and spoken word pieces with meditative and often soulful soundscapes. radioweaver is her new album, a 8-track meditation on her state of mind, thoughts on love and life, with immersive and stunning soundscapes that add so much ethereal beauty to her art. the jittery electronica of “solt city” (co-produced bby 0comeups and the narrator) feels restless, with piano and synth melodies that jump out and feel overpowering. the trip-hop inspired beat on “in 3’s” (produced by chris de minicio) is another gorgeous moment on the album, with reflective words from the narrator – her gorgeous vocals throughout are. just so beautiful. the disorienting electronic soundscapes of “the invitation” (co-produced by leroy romans & the narrator) are excellent, as her soothing voice is complemented by expansive, atmospheric grooves that are stunning throughout. the piano-led “willing” (co-produced by the narrator, leroy romans & anton joseph) featuring imvn is a lush and beautiful moment on the album, with intimate and reflective lyrics on finding peace. the meandering electronic soundscapes of “middle broadcast” (co-produced by gaika & the narrator) makes for an immersive and intriguing listen. ambient and gentle “troposphere” features angelic vocals on a stunning piano-led piece, and it sounds utterly heavenly. “whistle spirit” features cello arrangements by abi asisa, and is another stunning moment on the album, with vulnerable reflections on love and seeking comfort and peace. it’s a poignant and stunning piece. the subtlle and gentle electronic soundscapes on “radioweaver’s raw technicolour” are stunning and empowering, growing in intensity as the narrator recites a poem in the background. the swirling piano leads and synths throughout make for another overwhelming but stunning listen, and the poem to conclude the album “first firework”, read by june, is a reflective and poetic way to close the album out. radioweaver is a stunning piace of art from one of the most interesting and genre-pushing artists making music today.
