a few thoughts: melbourne trio acopia have released a lush, catchy and dreamy new alternative album titled blush response. the 8-track project features introspective and melancholic compositions, with gentle vocals and a dreamy sound that captures this a feeling of loneliness and longing for connection. this is the feeling i get from it at least, with dreamy synths accompanying the dynamic drumming and beautiful guitar leads throughout the album, and really heightened on tracks like “falter” and “real life.” the dynamic, drum and bass inspired groove of “falling” is also a catchy moment on the album. “chase me” is another emotive and punchy moment on the album, really bringing a moody energy to the project. the emphatic drumming and guitar leads of “last word” close the 8-track project beautifully, reflecting on the weight of emotions. a sombre conclusion to a reflective, introspective body of work that really captures the melancholic tone of their music perfectly. blush response is an excellent body of work indeed.
