a few thoughts: firstly, if you haven’t listened to estradas, go do so asap. lisbon-based producer nídia and london-based italian percussionist and multi-instrumentalist valentina magaletti released one of the best electronic albums last year, full of rich, dance-heavy compositions that are catchy and just so fucking good, from start to finish. this year, they’ve released a remix album, so to speak, featuring new versions of the tracks off that album, and let me just tell you, it’s full of absolute heaters. featuring dj anderson do paraíso, rosa pistola, freebot, dj plead, badsista, fauzia, sherelle, yu su, fergus jones, kelman duran and cosmic analog ensemble, all these tracks give a new, fresh dynamic and energy to the already intense compositions, with afro house, drum n bass, banging tribal electronica sounds all sprinkled throughout a riveting and dynamic body of work. from the insane “andiamo” (dj anderson do paraíso version) – my most played song on apple music this year, to the jazzy undertones of “ta a bater ya” (cosmic analog ensemble version), the project has something for all electronic music heads, and is a celebration of the diversity of nídia and valentina’s sound. incredible remix album.
