a few thoughts: released back in february, moses yoofee trio’s debut album myt is a striking and sprawling jazz debut that twith rhythms and melodies that will have you grooving for days. consisting of moses yoofee on keys, noah fürbringer on drums and roman klobe on bass, the trio’s energetic compositions are full of striking moments. the intro “into you” is a light, groovy and reflective opener and sets the tone for the album beautifully. the guitar-led grooves of “ridgewalk” are exceptional, with incredible drumming that create this jittery, restless rhythm. “green light” featuring enny is a colourful and engaging track, with an introspective and soulful verse from enny. the drumming throughout “bond” is emphatic and incredible, while the guitar-led melodies of “gemini” and “trust” are fantastic. “push” has this infectious drum-led energy that just makes me wanna move, while the keys and synths on “show me how” are stunning. “deep” with wanja slavin is incredible too, as the saxophone and wind instrumentation throughout adds so might light and colour to the track and album, while “this could be the end” featuring evîn has subtle vocals a gorgeous piano-led melody and jittery drumming that make this an engaging and fun listen. “whip.wav” closes the project out with an engaging, beautiful and light composition that is just stunning from start to finish. the colourful and dynamic debut from moses yoofee trio is a sublime new jazz album capturing their talents as composers, while creating immersive, rhythmic soundscapes that are soulful and beautiful from start to finish.
