a few thoughts: this transatlantic collaboration makes a lot of sense. new york-based artist anysia kym has got her fingerprints on some of the most innovative and interesting beats to come out recently, having worked and collaborated with the likes of mike and jadasea over the years. she’s an incredibly talented electronic musician, who captures the coldness yet dynamic energy of city life in the states. london’s loraine james is a genre-pushing artist who has continued creating some hypnotic and immersive electronic music in years, and captures the gloom and energy of city life poignantly. together, anysia kym and loraine james have created a moody, melodic and ambient new ep titled clandestine. the 5-track project meditates over gentle and emotive synth leads such as on “tension”, “sentimental” (also with it’s gorgeous chimes), “shy (interlude)” and “like a dove”, and glitcher and heavier moments such as on “new links” and “shy (interlude)”. loraine james’ soothing, warm and inviting vocals throughout add a beautiful soul and energy to it. clandestine ep is an excellent body of work capturing this moody, raw and intimate energy.
