a few thoughts: “belly dub/osotb” are two killer dub singles from london-based slicknbobby. consisting of merther hum on dubs/fx and with jordan hadfield (track 1) on bass , oscar jerome (track 2) on guitar, santiago morales (1) and ed adonis (2) on percussion, robin hopcraft (1) on trumpet and idris rahman (1) on sax, the group has created two of the most infectious and immersive dub tracks i’ve heard so far this year. the heavy dub energy of “belly dub” features a thick beat and immersive guitar and synth leads, bringing this almost sluggish but infectious energy to it. “osotb” has this slick drums that hit hard, with a melody that is just so soulful and lush throughout. i’m so excited to hear what they have coming out next.
