a few thoughts: i feel like this album came out at the perfect time for me personally. marysia osu is a london-based harpist, composer and producer who has worked with the likes of maxwell owin, joe armon-jones, laura misch and levitation orchestra amongst others, and has made a name for herself as one of the most talented harpists working today. harp, beats & dreams is her debut album, and is a stunning meditation and musical journey through some of the most emotive, beautiful and powerful compositions i’ve heard this year. through the 10 tracks and 40 minutes of music, the talented artist has created stunning soundscapes that combine ambient electronic sounds with her incredibly powerful harp melodies throughout. “seatime”, with its swelling strings and stunning synths throughout makes for a mesmerising listen, as it feels like i’m floating through space and time, creating this warm and delicate sound that is just absolutely stunning from start to finish. tracks like “melting timbers” and “care to care”, provide another layer of beauty and serenity to her music, as they feature plumm’s incredibly delicate and sensual vocals. “memento mori” and “dream language” feature yuis on alto flute, and are both immersive and stunning compositions. “only u <3” is one of my favourites on the album. marysia’s singular harp melody throughout gives me goosebumps. the subtle beat on “until tomorrow comes” complements the melancholic tone of marysia’s harp melody, while “despite being in love” is another immersive and beautiful piece, a subtle and quiet piece of music that is equally somber as it is uplifting. “cascades” and “meditation iv” close the album out with incredible, immersive arrangements that feel and sound so peaceful and utterly spellbinding, especially the latter track of the two. i’m honestly lost for words on how healing harp, beats & dreams is, so thank you marysia osu for your gift and your music.
