a few thoughts: swedish house music producer axel boman has been making gems for dancefloors over the last few years and has become a very well respected name within dance music. he’s back with 4-track album titled space drag. an immersive listen, the project kicks off with the title track, with a playful vocal sample, a driving beat and intense groove that builds over 11 minutes. the synths and acid house groove on the track in incredibly infectious and brings this intensity that is just incredible from start to finish. on ‘acid left and right’ dominant and funky synths complement the almost tribal percussion throughout, with a fierce intensity to it that is hypnotic throughout. the percussion-heavy groove of “forever latino” is fantastic too, with mesmerising rhythm and melody, with intense drumming and grooves throughout. “ohh baby” closes the album with a brilliant broken-beat rhythm and an atmospheric synth lead that makes for an uplifting listen. over 4 tracks, axel boman highlights his talents as one of the most exciting and electric house producers making music today.
