Why you should listen: Whenever Burial drops, it’s an event. The UK-based electronic legend has been prolific with his output over the last few years with a set of EP’s that are a mixture of dynamic and ambient, hard-hitting and overwhelming, light and atmospheric. Dreamfear/Boy Sent From Above is a 2-track EP comprising of riveting electronic compositions that continue expanding Burial’s already eclectic sound. “Dreamfear” is is pulsating and powerful track with fast-paced, bass-heavy beats, overwhelming synth melodies, murky vocal chops. It’s a frantic track, with a drum n bass-type energy that is incredibly infectious and loud. The techno-type ending and hip-hop-esque sampling throughout makes it an intense listening experience. “Boy Sent From Above” is a colourful and dynamic track, with vocal samples and playful synths leads that add to the texture and frantic soul of the track itself. It’s an expansive, experimental electronic piece that perfectly captures the angst and jarring energy of today’s dystopian world.
