Why you should listen: Pink Siifu is a legend among underground hip-hop circles, as he constantly finds new ways to innovate and develop his sound. A highly collaborative artist, he always connects with other talented artists to make genre-pushing new music, and It’s Too Quiet..’!! with Cincinnati artist Turich Benjy is an example of this. Turich Benjy has worked with Pink Siifu previously on GUMBO’!, but this project represents their first proper collaborative album together. The 17 track album almost hits the hour-long mark and features some eclectic, electronic production, taking influence from techno and house music from different parts of the country, as well as modern trap. Tracks like “It’s Too Quiet..’!! featuring Kamilah, Nick Hakim & Pher and “Wywd..’!?” featuring Milfie both set the tone for the rest of the album, a high energy and eclectic sound combining both their skills as emcees poignantly. The smooth and sensual beat on “Lookin..’!! (Gorgeous)” featuring Vayda & WiFiGawd is beautiful too, with explicit and sexy lyricism that adds to the sensuality of the track as a whole.
“Velvet Room..’!!” featuring JAAS & Ss.sylver is another smooth and soulful cut I love from the album, while “RIP Brittany Murphy..’!!” featuring Peso Gordon & Rich Park, “Pig Head..’!!” and “Swamp..’!!” have this more heavy, hard-hitting energy to it that provides us with some incredibly punchy and memorable moments. “Keith Sweat..’!!” with Big Rube is another hypnotic moment on the album, as the legendary feature serenades the track with smooth vocals. The album as a whole is a fun and immersive listen and one I recommend everyone checks out!
