Why you should listen: Oliver Palfreyman, also known as O.PAL, has released a short but memorable 2-track EP titled Ossify. I have been a fan of this man’s work for years and years, and seeing him continue to push the boundaries of what beats can sound like is so inspiring. “Encoded Bone” features this heavy, Grime-esque raw drumming that just pulsate with venom throughout, and swirling synths that give the track a melody that is utterly infectious. The fast-paced nature of “Burst” gives it a dark, grimy almost techno feeling, with jittering beats and grooves that keep the energy of that track alive. Some of the percussion and synths make this track sound tribal too. Ossify again shows O.PAL at his most adventurous, with heavy, tribal and infectious production that’ll get you moving in one way or another.
