Why you should listen: Already a legendary figure within the electronic music scene, Laurel Halo has come out with a surprising new album titled Atlas. With contributions from Benedik Giske on saxophone (tracks 1, 10), Lucy Railton on Cello (all tracks except 6,9), James Underwood on violin (all tracks except 6, 9) and Coby Sey on vocals (track 5), this is an incredible, emotive and stunning collaborative piece of music. It’s ambient body of work that features jazzy sound collages and some beautiful and immersive synth melodies that sound absolutely stunning throughout. The gentleness on tracks like the opener “Abandon”, and “Naked to the Light” are so beautiful and moving, while the darker, more unassuming tone of tracks like “Sick Eros” or “Atlas” make give this album ever-changing dynamic differing emotions that make it a poignant listen. As it swirls and meanders between different emotional states and textures, with Atlas, Laurel Halo is able to create a project that is nothing short of sublime.
