Music: Kamaal Williams – DJ-Kicks: Kamaal Williams

Already a legend within the new generation of jazz artists creating interstellar music, Kamaal Williams has released a new mix for DJ-Kicks. This project flows effortlessly from track to track, despite the eclectic selection of tracks on this mix, and there are some absolute gems throughout.

Legendary tracks such as Karriem Riggins’ “Summer Madness S.A.,” Steve Spacek’s “Hey There,” Ratgrave’s “Ein Kola Bitte!,” and Yussef Kamaal’s “Lowrider” (among others) all feature throughout this loaded mix, while there are some new cuts on here as well. “Shinjuku” is a piano-led piece that’s stunning and so emotive, while Henry Wu’s “Wivout U” is a groovy, dynamic and funky house track. Altogether, Kamaal Williams DJ-Kicks mix is definitely something to groove to. The London-based legend has continued to impress and cement his status as one of the greatest of this past decade, and I hope he continues releasing stellar music in the next few years. I’ll be waiting in anticipation!
