Captain Supernova is the alias of Los Angeles based artist Eric Borders, a talented artist who has been releasing some really exciting music recently. The Voyage Never Ends… is his new album, a 10 track project that brings vast influences ranging from prog rock to fusion-jazz music. It’s a wonderful body of work which captures his energy and aura beautifully.
Accompanied by a plethora of musical guests, the rich textures and soundscapes C.SN is able to create are really something special. The intro “Start of your Path” makes way for “Aquarian Dreams” featuring Natalie Oliveri. It’s a stunning neo-soul track with gorgeous synths and keys that bring this angelic tone, something which is complemented further by Natalie’s stunning vocals. The subtle guitar leads are also gorgeous, and makes for a gorgeous listen. “Breathing” features vibrant vocals from Made By Crooks, with brilliant guitar leads and synths throughout that add soul and character to the record. The rhythmic and key-heavy vibe on “Endless Maze” with Mark de Clive-Lowe is beautiful as well. The funk opus “Closer to You” features slick basslines and an infectious groove that makes it a captivating, and great listen. “Find A Way” featuring Angela Muhwezi and Mark de Clive-Lowe is a cosmic, spiritual track, with infectious basslines and an ethereal vibe, which is something also felt on “It Begins” featuring Angela Muhwezi, which is a slower-paced track with gorgeous guitar grooves and a thumping beat once it hits. With pleasant melodies and intricate compositions throughout, C.SN is able to create a project that’s layered musically and diverse stylistically. The Voyage Never Ends… is a brilliant album that showcases his talents as a musician and arranger.
